As long as there is continuous support provided for free to users who uses the software people will be using it as much as they can.
The main reason why the open source software like Drupal, Joomla or WordPress are so popular is they have very good forums and they have created environment where developers can contribute by writing useful plugins, widgets and themes. More important these software keeps them self up to date with new trends and technology.
If users can get these CMS for free and customize to their need very easily, they wont buy any other CMS.

      Hi Daron,

Thanks for your explanation. It was very helpful.

IMHO, companies using open source CMS will have to be backed up with web developers to change the content and to add plugins.

Where in other paid wCMS can be used by a layman who is trained on the software.

Doesn’t give a cost advantage in maintaining a website ?
