What is the window of opportunity for employee termination?

MY EMPLOYER HAD TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE GOING TO TERMINATE ME, WHICH THEY HAD NO GROUNDS TO, FOR AN INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED A MONTH PRIOR TO THE DATE OF TERMINATION. THEY KEPT ME FOR A MONTH AFTERWARDS AND THEN LET ME GO WITHOUT A PINK SLIP.
