A quick look on wikipedia says the root causes can be corruption of government, unequal distribution of wealth, over population, and urbanization. But the main direct cause according to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is agriculture in the form of subsistence farming, commercial farming, and logging.

According to wikipedia, it’s agricultural. The combo of abstinence farming and commercial farming adds up to 80%. Wikipedia isn’t always right, but I believe they are this time.

Most tropics are in underdevoloped economies.less industrialisation and urbanisation and yet the populations ballon.A large percentage of the population believe that agriculture will empower them economical. As a result large lands are cleared to feed growing families using poor agricultural methods. There is less interference from government because they have little or nothing else to offer as options.
