The charter of my company permits me to establish any business under it. I would like to establish a pet-gooming company, headed by a relative, as one of the above. The new entiti would be an independent small business. How do I go about this, and what legal term do I use.

    Thanks so much.

A company holding between 20-50% of the shares of another company without controlling it refers to this investment in its consolidated accounts as an associated company.

Affiliated company describes a connection between two companies – but it is not specific – it could include joint ventures and subsidiaries

A subsidiary is a company that is controlled by another company; the parent company holds most or all of the shares in the subsidiary

A sister company defines a relationship between two or more subsidiaries.
