Which is more important efficiency or effectiveness?

It is very clear that in running an organisation there should be a balance of efficiency,ie, the way resources are employed, and effectiveness,ie,the extent to which the desired goals are achieved.Now i would like to know which is more important to organisations in todays enviroments.

How can each one be applied to business without the other.Any implications?

    I think both of them are equally important. Why would one be more important than another?

    You need efficiency to accomplish your goals with the least amount of resources and you need effectiveness to make sure you achieve the desired goal (and possibly exceed).

    efficiency refers to “doing things right”. means and ways (resources) that an organization used to accompilish the goals.
    effectiveness reffers to “doing right things”. end or attaining organizations desired goals.
