tenant’s rights in the event of a foreclosure/sheriff’s sale

I’m currently living in a home that has been foreclosured upon and a sheriff’s sale will be acted upon in September 12th, 2011. I was paying rent in a timely manner and had no idea that my landlord wasn’t paying the mortgage, so I’m completely stunned to learn this. I’m in a quandry as far as to when or where to move, and feel immobilized. Please help me. Thank you.
