what is the limitation on a last will and testament ?

My wife’s father past away in 1972 ( she was 16 years old) and was in the will ( as far as she was told) , but no one contacted her about the reading of the will or burial only of his death, found out years later he was buried in Washington St.
Is there any action she can take to retrieve her rightful clam to the will ?
