Accumulated Benefit Obligation (ABO)

Definition

An estimate of the present value of an employee's pension which assumes that the employee ceases to work for the company at the time the estimation is made. For a company the ABO is an estimate of the pension liability. See also Projected Benefit Obligation (PBO).
