American Stock Exchange (AMEX)
Definition
Second largest stock exchange in the US (after the New York Stock Exchange) located in downtown Manhattan. Most of the securities listed on the AMEX are of small and medium sized companies, and more foreign securities are traded on AMEX than on any other US stock exchange. Also known as the 'Curb Exchange,' or just 'The Curb,' it is now a part of NASDAQ Stockmarket.
