Definition
Older measure of the speed of digital data transmission between computers, via modems over ordinary (copper) telephone lines. The more recent and more common measure is bits-per-second (bps). Named after the French telecommunications pioneer and inventor of the teleprinter, J. M. E. Baudot (1845-1903).
