Blue Cross
Definition
A hospital expense plan that provides coverage for hospital treatment with some specific restrictions, for example, the type of room occupied. Blue Cross and Blue Shield are both under the same national federation of independently owned companies. Blue Cross covers hospital expenses, and Blue Shield covers medical and surgical costs.
