College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Definition
A group of standardized tests that allows students to "test out" of certain college courses. At the time of this writing, there are 33 tests offered for such subjects as biology, calculus, English literature, and economics. If a student passes one of these tests with the minimum score, he/she is allowed to skip taking the course and can earn college credit, if allowed under the college's policy.
