Conference Board

Definition

Non-profit business organization that researches, compiles and produces leading economic indicators for Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain and the United States. One of the most well known indicators they produce is the Consumer Confidence Index. Because they are a non-profit organization that is also non-partisan, their data is deemed to be accurate and unbiased. Therefore, its data is used by many people both inside and outside of the investing community. The Conference Board was originally established in the early 1900s with the purpose of helping employees settle their differences due to increasing regulations in the work environment.
