Credit Reporting Agencies
Definition
Companies responsible for assigning independent ratings indicating the credit-worthiness of the issuers of securities and other debt obligations, and in some cases of the debt obligations themselves. Credit reporting agency ratings are used to assess credit risk and to determine interest rates for debt products.
