Diners club
Definition
One of the first independent charge card companies in the world. The company was founded in 1950 by Frank McNamara, Ralph Schneider, and Casey Taylor. Diners club garnered a small amount of success at its conception, but its popularity quickly died down as more competitors such as American Express started forming. The company operated under MasterCard and Carte Blanche briefly and is now a subsidiary of Discovery Financial.
