Dow Jones Equity Market Index

Market-capitalization weighted (see weight) index reflecting price changes in the shares of over 100 US industry groups trading on the New York Stock Exchange, American Stock Exchange, and NASDAQ Stockmarket. These shares together represent about 80 percent of the US market capitalization.
