Federal Advisory Council (FAC)

Definition

Group which consults and advises the Federal Reserve Board four times annually, as required by the Federal Reserve Act. Meetings are held in Washington, DC, usually in February, May, September and December. Members typically serve three years on the Federal Advisory Council and are selected by the members of each Reserve Bank - one person represents each Reserve Bank's district.
