Federal Reserve discount rate

Definition

An interest rate that is one of two that the Fed directly sets, whereby Federal Reserve member banks can receive funds via the Fed. Can also be referred to simply as the discount rate. The other rate set by the Federal Reserve Bank is known as the Federal funds rate.
