Group of 22 (G-22)
Definition
A forum of 22 emerging and developed countries founded in 1997. It has since been superseded by the G33 and then by the G20. The main purpose of the group was to convene each nation's finance ministers and central bank governors to discuss global finance and development strategies. In effect the group would act like the financial steering group of the world economy, attempting to prevent global economic crisis through international policy and cooperation.
