ICSC-UBS store sales
Definition
An index published weekly by the International Council of Shopping Centers and the UBS investment Bank to indicate the performance of the U.S. retail industry. It uses comparable store sales measures from major retailers to create a running snapshot of sales performance as compared to the previous year. The index is especially useful in indicating economic activity, as consumer spending accounts for about two-thirds of GDP.
