International Convention For the Prevention Of Pollution From Ships (MARPOL)
Definition
Adopted in 1973, its recommendations (as amended by the protocol of 1978) cover the prevention of marine pollution by dangerous goods carried by the sea in packaged form, and are amplified by the IMDG code.
