J. D. Rockefeller
Definition
An American industrialist who founded the Standard Oil Company. John Davison Rockefeller lived from 1839 to 1937, and he spent his later years on philanthropic endeavors and gave away roughly half of his fortune. He established the Rockefeller Foundation and the University of Chicago.
