Mallows statistic
Definition
A statistical procedure developed by Colin L. Mallows, used to determine the fit of a regression model generated by the use of ordinary least squares. The Mallows method is meant to prevent errors due to overfitting, which can produce incorrect predictions about future values based on models applied to existing data points.
