Mandelbrot set

Fractal discovered by the French-US mathematician Benoît Mandelbrot (1924-) that is fascinating in the richness of its detail. It traces (maps) the output of a mathematical formula over many repetitions (iterations) producing self-similar figures at an ever-decreasing scale.
