Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)

The Japanese government ministry which deals with the economic, industrial, and trade-related issues of the country. It was created in 1949 as the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, and was renamed in 2001 after merging with other agencies related to the country's economy.
