Organic Act of the Department of Labor
Definition
Law that split the Department of Commerce and Labor into two separate departments, the Department of Law and the Department of Commerce. The law was ratified by William Howard Taft in 1913, who was forced to do so, though he personally believed that keeping the two together would be better as they shared similar objectives.
