Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE)
Definition
A component of the monthly Personal Income Report. The PCE measures inflation by tracking changes in prices. Unlike the Consumer Price Index, which uses a fixed basket of goods and services, the PCE changes along with consumer spending habits. The PCE is released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis near the first business day of each month for a period ending two months prior. Compare to Consumer Price Index.
