Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB)
Definition
A non-profit corporation that oversees the auditors who provide services to publicly-traded companies. The PCAOB was chartered by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 in the wake of a series of securities accounting scandals, including Enron and WorldCom.
