Restaurant Performance Index (RPI)
Definition
A monthly composite index that tracks the overall health of the restaurant industry based on the results of a survey conducted by the National Restaurant Association. The RPI is comprised of the Current Situation Index which measures current activities in sales, traffic, labor and expenditures, and the Expectations Index which is based on forward looking indicators such as hiring, sales outlook, expenditure plans, and general business outlook.
