Thomas Malthus

Definition

An economist whose famous writing entitled "An Essay on the Principle of Population" suggested that that the world's population would increase more rapidly than the production of food to sustain the population. During his life, Malthus published six editions of his popular essay. Malthus's study of populations and the effects that is has on the economy have been drawn upon and criticized for more than 200 years.
