International treaty specified in a document or instrument that governs the legal implication of words and terms used in it and the applicable jurisdiction in case of a dispute. Terms of a contract of carriage, for example, may be based on the Warsaw Convention (WC) of 1929, WC as amended in 1955, WC as amended in 1975, and so on.
