attorney in fact
Definition
Agent who holds the power of attorney allowing him or her to transact business and execute legal documents on behalf of a principal. Decisions made and actions taken by an attorney in fact (within the scope of his or her authority) are legally binding on the principal. An attorney-in-fact need not be an attorney-at-law.
