automated manifest system (AMS)
Definition
A computerized system used by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency (CBP) to more efficiently process import cargo invoices—or manifests. Different types of agencies, such as carriers, port authorities, service bureaus, and container freight stations, can participate in the system.
