average incoming quality
Definition
The average level of quality of an inspection lot prior to arriving at the inspection point, often abbreviated as AIQ. Since the inspection process may include discarding defective units, the average incoming quality metric reflects the raw quality of the output of the process. Opposite of average outgoing quality.
