banking ordinance
Definition
A series of legislative acts passed by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong to increase restrictions for the licensing of a bank, intended to protect the populace from the "Free Banking" environment which was speculative, unrestricted and highly volatile. These four acts were passed in 1948, 1964, 1967 and 1986.
