cache
Definition
Portion of a computer's random access memory (RAM) reserved for temporary storage of data for processing or the data frequently requested from the computer's hard disk. Since data stored in RAM can be accessed much faster than the data stored on a hard disk, a cache speeds up computing. See also buffer.
