capital campaign

Definition

A plan of action, typically by a non-profit organization, to raise a large amount of money over a given period of time. An organization may implement a capital campaign if they need to raise funds for a significant purchase, such as major renovations or a large piece of equipment, or simply to help take care of normal budgetary items. The money is often raised through donations or fundraising events.
