catalytic reforming

Petroleum refinery process in which low-octane products (such as naphtha) of catalytic cracking are re-formed into higher-octane ones (such as gasoline) under high pressure and temperature, and in the presence of catalysts such as platinum or molybdenum-aluminum oxides.
