Definition
Advancement of athletic, educational, literary, public comfort, health, and safety, poverty reduction, religion, scientific knowledge, and other such objectives-without seeking private benefit, profit, or political power. Benevolent and philanthropic purposes are not necessarily charitable unless they are solely and exclusively for the benefit of public or a class or section of it.
