Definition
Rules governing how the court will process a civil case. This written set of rules determine what pleas, orders and motions are allowed, as well as the handling of depositions and discovery. The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure was adopted by the US federal court in 1938 with most states adopting the same rules for state court systems.
