Definition
A common horizontal bar code found on products, consisting of 43 characters - a combination of alphanumeric and special characters each consisting of five bars and four spaces. Code 39 barcodes, readable by any barcode scanner, are of lower data density than high density Code 128 barcodes, which are used in a specialized GS1-128 variant for worldwide shipping and packaging.
