Definition

Legal principle that if a written (main) contract is challenged, the evidence of a second (express but oral) contract may not be disregarded under the parol evidence rule if the terms of the oral contract (1) are consistent with those of the main contract and, as a general practice, (2) are not expected to be included in the main contract.
