1. Special type of message or object serving to communicate information. For example, a business salesperson on the road may receive a brief communiqué from his or her supervisor advising against going below a certain price in order to close a sale.

2. Brief report or message issued by a company or corporation in order to update the public on a current project or item of interest. In this sense, a communiqué is similar to a press release.
