conduit financing
Definition
A method of financing where a government or a qualified private company issues fixed income securities in behalf of a non-profit organization. However, the government is not liable to investors as payment to them are from cash flows generated by the project and not from government funds. Conduit financing is characterized by a large prepayment penalty since it affects money available for payment to investors.
