conglomerate integration

Definition

A process whereby a business acquires a substantial number of other unrelated businesses in order to form a large and highly diversified corporation. Some advantages of conglomerate integration are the economies of scale and product diversification possible by having various sub businesses under a broad administrative umbrella, although the current trend is moving away from this form of corporate growth structuring process.
