contractual intermediary
Definition
A financial institution or other entity that facilitates a financial arrangement between counterparties. An example would be a bank that provides a mortgage, enabling one individual to purchase property from another individual. The duties, rights, and compensation of a contractual intermediary are generally specified in the contract between the two counterparties.
