credit easing
Definition
A monetary policy pursued by a central bank that involves purchase of debt securities in order to inject liquidity into the banking system and increase lending as a way to stimulate the economy. The debt securities, which may consist of mortgage-backed securities, corporate bonds, or other private sector debt instruments, are added to the federal governments balance sheet as a credit, and the money used to purchase them are added as a debit.
