debt restructuring fraud
Definition
A scheme where a firm illegally files for bankruptcy after hiding its assets. After the declaration of bankruptcy, the firm then enters into an agreement with its creditors to reduce their debts without disclosing that the firm still has assets to satisfy their liabilities.
