defect opportunity
Definition
Any step in a process, or characteristic of that process, that could affect the quality of the end product from the perspective of customer requirements if a mistake, malfunction, or other defect were to occur. Identifying and reducing the number of defect opportunities present in a process is an important phase of the Six Sigma approach to process improvement.
