Definition
The relationship in a fractional factorial experimental design that is used to determine the alias pattern of the design. Fractional factorial design allows experiments to be conducted on a smaller set of meaningful interactions determined by the defining relationship, also called the defining relation, allowing researchers to save time and resources while still generating usable results.
